5 Stars Constant Companion
To add to the many other glowing reviews: I had an ipod nano and thought life couldn’t get better–except for iTunes. Then the battery died. I did a lot of research for my replacement and ended up liking this way more than the nano. Great sound, tiny size, very light, the clip works great and can clip to your t-shirt. I found most headphone cords way too long and tangly with this tiny thing, so I have taken to using a twist tie to keep the excess cordage out of the way. Sansa updates the firmware regularly and you never know what new features your clip may have! For example, it now plays .ogg files. The voice recorder works well. I’ve only used it to make notes to myself, but it’s handy for that, and may well be good for lectures. You can use almost any media player to load it up–except iTunes–or you can just drag and drop files onto it. You can use it as a portable drive. It’s great for books from Audible–probably the best player on the market for that. My only complaints, and they won’t bother most people–are that it plays podcasts from newest to oldest, and I want them the other way; and it won’t play the .aac format that itunes turned all my files into (more an Apple issue than a Sansa issue). It fits in my coin purse with my RAZR–and I can use the RAZR charger to charge this. Excellent value and performance.
5 Stars Son’s gift
Although this was purchased for my son, he was thrilled with it. He says that the size is absolutely perfect for anywhere and with the added clip, he can wear the item anywhere, anytime. He says that although it is small, it is even more powerful than the previous one he had.
5 Stars Best mp3 player (sound quality)/(size*price)
It is simply one of the best mp3 player in the market, if the only 2 thing you care about is sound quality and mobility.
It has MSC mode and works perfectly under Linux (Ubuntu in my case). However it does not support directory structure as some others (like Samsung k5 with kr firmwares).
It is small enough to be unnoticeable if you decide to take for a run.
Having said this the 2 Gb version I owned before crashed a couple of months ago for no apparent reason. But I got the same 4 Gb model.
P.S. Be sure to install the latest firmware when you get it.
4 Stars The “Clip’s” clip
I have several of the Sansa Clips and they all are have great sound, excellent battery life and are very durable. Two problems to note:
1. I would advise against upgrading to the newest firmware using the Sandisk Firmware Updater as the player then tends to play downloaded podcasts in the wrong order; e.g., Hr 3–> Hr 2 –> Hr 1. Very annoying and distracting!
2. The 4 Gb Silver “Clip” has a removable clip which unfortunately falls off very easily and, being translucent, is very hard to find. Mine is AWOL and of course I can’t find anyone who sells replacement clips. This is rather sad as the clip is what makes the “Clip” handy! (FWIW, the 1 Gb Clips have a permanently affixed clip.)
So, 5 stars for the player-1/2 for the clip and 1/2 for the firmware = 4.
5 Stars Awesome Littlle Giant
I ordered a Sansa Clip 2G player for both my wife and I, mainly for a long flight to Australia. I have loaded 5-7 mp3 albums and several audio books in each of them plus a few mp3 singles for the trip and still have a little room left. The Sansa Clip is so small it’s actually cute. It’s so easy to use and navigate the menus and to load files into, it’s amazing. We love them and only wish we had ordered the 4g model. Although the battery will automatically charge while connected to the computer’s USB port. I separately ordered external charger plugs, one for the house wall plug and one for the car cigarette lighter (they came as part of a charger kit)and colored cover skins just to protect and personalize them. We found that although the ear buds that came with the units sounded good, they seemed a bit big and hard to keep in place. We switch to our our Sony ear buds that fit us much better and sound fantastic.
I wish we had gotten them sooner.
Amazon had the best price I could find and delivery was perfect arriving sooner then stated.
